Cover Reveal: Sol by Leslie McAdam

October 06, 2017 0 Comments

SOL COVER REVEAL

I have a really, really exciting book cover reveal today. The truth is I'm pretty late in posting this and you might have seen this cover around the internet but here we go... I'll be posting a review of this book in a few days and let me tell you, I really have high hopes that this book will be an awesome read.

*fingers crossed*

SOL BY LESLIE MCADAM

Title: Sol
Author: Leslie McAdam
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Michele Catalano Creative
Photo: Cory Stierley
Model: Taylor Lotre
Release Date: October 15, 2017

BLURB:

The army taught me discipline. Order. Control.

None of that matters the day I walk into her classroom.

Or her bedroom.

What's more important than my grade?

Not failing her.

A note from the author about the cover

On July 27, 2016, Cory Stierley sent a group text to me and our mutual friend Erin, a painter, completely ticked off about seeing a guy running. Since I don’t normally get upset about seeing people run—and neither do Cory or Erin—I thought this was odd behavior.

Cory: “Ok, this is common from me but I’m kinda pissed off right now!!!”

Me: “Let it out”

Erin: “…go on”

Cory is a professional photographer who has taken the cover photographs for half of my published books, in addition to other New York Times bestsellers. He loves color and celebrating bodies. He has an eye for beauty and a knack for getting amazingly creative shots.

Cory's text: “So, I was getting off the highway and I happen to see this dude running, red tank top with white edges, black and white shorts. He was running on a path next to a green field, so of course it stuck out to me. I had to go slow past him cuz the speed limit and the turn I was making. He immediately hit me as your next cover model.”

Me: “And why are you pissed about this”

Because why would anyone be mad about seeing a guy running in a park? Right?

But Cory was so upset because this was the one who got away. A muse, an inspiration. Marching orders from the creative universe to actually make something.

And his potential subject was gone.

Cory was adamant. “He NEEDS to model. … Leslie, I’m not lying when I say he is your IDEAL dude/model.”

He was right.

In an attempt to find the guy, Cory placed a “missed connections” ad on Craigslist, but was discouraged because of the slim-to-none chances that someone would see the ad and know the identity of the runner.

I tried to reassure him: “Well he’ll find you. And you’ll take his pic. And I’ll buy it. That’s all. Done. … This is the part where I expose to you all what a mystical weirdo I am. But that’s what happens. You’ll find him. .. Or he’ll find you. That’s the way the universe works. … Relax you’ll find him.”

(And then Erin and I discussed tattoos for a while. <3 Sigh.)

The next day, Cory went back to the same park at about the same time and hung around.

No dude.

The following day, Cory woke up and got the idea to stop by a local gym. Cory walked in and was relieved to see that there was a younger girl behind the counter. (He was grateful that it was a younger chick, thinking that a story like this wouldn't weird her out so much, and that she would help.) He went up to her and started describing the guy he saw running.

She got a knowing look on her face like, I know who you’re talking about. Reinstalling Instagram on her phone, she pulled up a profile.

And it was the guy!

Named Taylor.

So Cory had FOUND THE GUY despite nearly zero odds.

Looking at his profile, we were not only struck by handsome Taylor’s looks but also his incredible attitude. Nearly all of his posts were positive quotes and affirmations. There was just an amazing spirit about every single thing he did.

We all felt a sense of relief that Cory had found the guy, and both he and I direct messaged him on Instagram. (Cory made me redo my original message because he thought it sounded too stalkery.)

And we were relieved when he responded.

We found out the following. (1) He’d been wanting to model, and encouraged to do so by family and friends his whole life, but didn’t know how to go about it, and (2) this was his second day doing cardio in three years, since he had gotten out of the Army. But this was the first day, at the last second, he had decided to run a different route. If he would have gone the other way, Cory wouldn't have seen him.

You can draw your own conclusions to this story. My conclusion is that some things are meant to be. Taylor was meant to model and Cory was meant to find him.

And now, not only did Cory find him, they took the pic, I bought it, and he’s on my cover, but the fact that he served in Afghanistan provided me with a muse for this story.

AUTHOR BIO

Leslie McAdam is a California girl who loves romance, Little Dude, and well-defined abs. She lives in a drafty old farmhouse on a small orange tree farm in Southern California with her husband and two small children. Leslie always encourages her kids to be themselves – even if it means letting her daughter wear leopard print from head to toe. An avid reader from a young age, she will always trade watching TV for reading a book, unless it’s Top Gear. Or football. Leslie is employed by day but spends her nights writing about the men you fantasize about. She’s unapologetically sarcastic and notoriously terrible at comma placement (that’s what editors are for!). Always up for a laugh, Leslie tries to see humor in all things. When she’s not in the writing cave you’ll find her fangirling over Beck, camping with her family, or mixing up oil paints to depict her love of outdoors on canvas.

Always You Book Cover

Title: ALWAYS YOU

Author: Roxie Noir

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I’ve been broken since the day I was born, with a past full of ugly secrets and a brother doing life in prison.   Not that you’d know it if you read the tabloids. According to them I’m the rock-solid guitarist for the biggest band in the world. I’m the dependable one. The steady one. The anchor.   They don’t know the truth. No one knows who I am underneath, once the music is over and the lights are off.   No one but Darcy.   She’s my best friend. She’s my fucking savior, my light in the dark, beautiful as hell and talented as fuck and every bit as broken as me.   And I fucking yearn for her. I have for years. I see the way she looks at me, what’s behind her eyes.   I know what she thinks about alone, in the dark, because how could I not know.   It’s getting worse. Every second, every heartbeat, every moment we spend together and every secret we share makes me want her more. Even though I know that one kiss, one night could ruin everything we have, I need her.   And for Darcy, I’ll risk it all.

Exclusive Excerpt:

If there’s a heaven, it probably feels a little like this, playing in perfect time with three other people while thousands more cheer for you. Suddenly everything that we went through to get here is worth it: ironing out a guitar and bass licks in the studio at three in the morning, heading home as the sun rose. Arguing over a chord progression for three hours, practicing the tricky parts until I got blisters. We end the first song and slide into the second without even stopping for a beat, just like we practiced. Darcy’s bass swoops low and then rises, the only sound for a couple of bars, and I look over at her. She’s fucking mesmerizing. Every single fucking time, all eyes on her for these few bars, and even though I know she doesn’t like being the center of attention it’s glorious when she is. The curve of her neck and she tosses her dark hair back, the line of her shoulders in her dress, her fingers on the bass. And her legs in that short dress, covered in ripped fishnets, wearing boots. Jesus Christ, man. One hundred percent pure rock chick, loud and careless and brash and don’t-give-a-fuck as hell. I’m gonna be honest: Darcy’s crazy hot all the time, but right now is when she’s the hottest. Right now’s the time when I wonder again what would happen if I finally stopped pretending that I don’t want her and just fucking did something about it. But then I join back into the song and the wild, nearly-uncontrollable urge fades back to its normal level, always there but under control. As I do she glances over at me, a little smile on her face like we’ve got some kind of secret, just the two of us, even across the space and the noise of the stage. I smile back because we do. We’ve got lots of secrets. Darcy knows things about me that no one else does, and vice-versa. We finish that song, and the momentum only builds. The crowd gets louder, stompier, and we move again into the third song without stopping. This one’s slower, not exactly a ballad but as hard as the first two. I’m already sweating under the stage lights, playing a little slower, a little softer. It’s a lull, a respite, a brief meditation from the madness. I let the air buzz around me and find this quiet place, my hands on autopilot for a moment. And then there’s a bang. It’s loud as hell, behind us and way overhead where there shouldn’t be a bang and I flinch, then whirl around wonderin what the fuck that was. Then there’s a second bang, the fizzle and flash of a lone firework. I keep playing on autopilot, but my stomach turns uneasily because Dirtshine doesn’t have fireworks. There shouldn’t be fucking unannounced pyrotechnics, I think, glancing toward the side of the stage. Is that left over from the band before us, or did someone fucking forget to tell— The bass line cuts out in a jumble. I jerk my head over. She’s on fire.

Genre: Young Adult Fiction

Blurb:

For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.

Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with the lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory faces a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

Krishna's Thoughts:

It has been a long time since my last book review.

I came back because I read this book and I just can't and I mean I JUST CAN'T NOT review this book. It was raw and gritty and real. It wasn't just a normal YA romance. It certainly wasn't fluffy. It has depth. It has heart. It has that special something that makes a book go inside your head, heart and soul. It stayed with me. I thought about it after DAYS of finishing it. Then, I got on my my computer, dusted my book blog and started writing this review because this book is that good. It made me get off my lazy mode.
